Who are we?

Welcome to ‘Coached By Matteo’, a private football academy dedicated to helping players reach their full potential, from pre-academy all the way through to the professional game. We work with some of the most talented players across the country, fostering an environment that breeds technical excellence through the detail delivered, culture created, and the standards set. CBM was founded by Matteo Esposito, who currently works as a Technical Skills coach for one of the most prestigious academies in the world, Arsenal FC - a club renowned for creating some of England’s greatest young talents.

Our Philosophy

At CBM, ball mastery will always be at the heart of our coaching philosophy, empowering players by developing the technical foundations needed to dominate duels, remain confident in possession, and find creative solutions to eliminate pressure. These are the hallmarks of football’s greatest mavericks - the traits that set them apart from the rest.  We cultivate these skills through our relentless practice culture, where purposeful repetition meets explosive endurance, underpinned with a level of detail delivered only at the pinnacle of academy football. At CBM, players are encouraged to be brave, take risks, and embrace competition, instilling the mentality needed to succeed at the highest level.

Our Framework

DYNAMIC BALL MASTERY
This is the cornerstone of our session design. Dominating the game requires strong technical foundations. At CBM, our Dynamic Ball Mastery program equips players with an explosive, refined, and versatile toolbox. This is accomplished through our creative skill combinations, effective foot patterns, and advanced passing, receiving, and ball striking practices.
1V1 DUELS
While technical excellence is pivotal at the highest level, mastering football fundamentals is just the beginning. The 1v1 duel requires an applicable understanding of when and where to use your technical skillset effectively to eliminate pressure. Our practice variety stretches players to find creative solutions to dominate their duels with complete control and unpredictability.
GAME RELATED PRACTICES
Where decision-making and game insight separates the good from the unstoppable. This is where the synergy between individual brilliance and collective effort is forged. Through a combination of possession drills, tactical games, and attacking and defensive transitions, players cultivate a deeper understanding of the game’s nuances. Our game related practices empower players to outsmart the opposition, whilst enhancing their ability to execute under pressure.
SMALL SIDED GAMES
Small sided games play a pivotal role in youth development, advancing technical prowess and tactical understanding. Fewer players competing in a smaller playing area increases each players ball contact time, and decision-making opportunities. The end-to-end nature of SSG’s mirrors the importance of rapid game transitions, where attackers can focus on their individual ability to create goal scoring opportunities for themselves and others, whilst defenders are tested on their ability to win duels and regain possession.

Academy Group Sessions

Our weekly academy groups are tailored exclusively for players signed to, or training with professional clubs. A blend of unopposed, semi-opposed, and fully opposed repetition ensures that only the most refined technicians are created over the course of the season.

Academy Masterclasses

Our academy masterclasses take place during school half terms and summer holidays. A call to the best of the best, where the most talented of players across the country go toe to toe, paired with an unrivalled level of detail and intensity delivered by our team of coaches. In the past, we’ve hosted players from some of Europe’s greatest academies, including the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, Man United, Ajax, and many more.

121 / Small Group sessions

Our 121 and small group sessions are designed to address the specific needs and areas of improvement of each player. With smaller group sizes, we ensure maximum ball contact time and coaching interaction, providing players with an opportunity to refine unique techniques through purposeful, high repetition practice. Session by session, we strive to support players in developing the capabilities needed to dominate at the highest level of football and stand out from the rest.

Coach Matteo is the founder of CBM, currently working as a Technical Skills coach at one of Europe’s most successful academies, Arsenal FC. Coach Matteo specialises in technical development, creating players who are fearless in possession by equipping them with the traits needed to dominate duels and change games. At only 23 years old, Matteo decided to shift his focus from pursuing a playing career of his own, to shaping the future of football through an unrivalled attention to detail.

Working through the ranks at both Arsenal and Tottenham’s academy as a player himself, Coach Jamz brings a unique expertise to CBM. Playing alongside some of footballs brightest young talents, Coach Jamz has seen first hand what it takes to become a professional at the pinnacle of football, and now dedicates his efforts to the next generation, supporting players with the physical, technical, and tactical skillset required to not only reach the top, but to stay there.
